Treasures of Úbeda and Baeza
A professional driver with its limousine will take you from Granada to the historic city
of Úbeda. The landscape on our way is amazing, an sea of olive trees. We travel
through the heart of olive production, the green gold.
Olive production museum
This museum is dedicated to the history and evolution of olive trees and the
production of olive oil – cornerstone of the region’s economy and culture.
We then continue to Úbeda, the first of two magnificent Renaissance towns. Úbeda
flourished during the reign of Emperor Charles V, whose secretary was born here,
bringing prestige and architectural innovation to the village. We visit two highlights:
the Chapel of the Saviour and the Palace of the Vazquez de Molina family.
In recent years, Úbeda has also revealed a remarkable part of its Jewish heritage.
We will visit the Sinagoga del Agua (Synagogue of the Water), a beautifully
preserved site that offers insight into the town’s multicultural past.
Afterward we make a break for some tapas.
Just a short drive away lies Baeza, another Renaissance jewel. In the 16th century,
that was home to a prestigious university and its majestic cathedral, reflecting a
golden age in its history.
In the afternoon our driver takes us back to Granada.
